Mid Central Community Action

MCCA was formed to help under-resourced people increase their knowledge, options and capabilities for financial stability. Our core purpose remains the same 50 years later as our mission is to educate, equip and empower individuals and families toward financially secure, violence free lives. Our four focus areas are: healthy relationships, healthy finances, healthy homes, and healthy neighborhoods. We offer a spectrum of traditional Community Action services including LIHEAP/PIPP for energy assistance and weatherization for energy conservation. We offer a comprehensive countering domestic violence program; including an emergency shelter, emergency hotline, counseling and intervention services for victims. As a chartered member of NeighborWorks America, we also provide homeownership promotion and preservation services such as credit building, pre- and post-homebuyer education, foreclosure mitigation, and rehabilitation of homes.

The Om Tribe

The OM Tribe's purpose is to foster a yogic approach to living including principals of peace, personal growth, and generosity. We provide opportunities to participate in free or donation based yoga classes, selfless service, and to become engaged in community, self discovery, and transformation. We are committed to unconditionally welcoming all to the many paths of yoga, regardless of age, ability, or financial situation. We are actively working toward opening a community center to serve Central Illinois, focusing on the Bloomington/Normal area. Visit www.theomtribe.org or follow us on Facebook to learn how to get involved.

Habitat for Humanity of McLean County

Habitat for Humanity of McLean County is part of a global, nonprofit housing organization operated on Christian principles that seeks to put God's love into action by building homes, communities and hope. Habitat for Humanity of McLean County is dedicated to eliminating substandard housing locally and worldwide through constructing, rehabilitating and preserving homes; by advocating for fair and just housing policies; and by providing training and access to resources to help families improve their shelter conditions. Habitat for Humanity was founded on the conviction that every man, woman and child should have a simple, decent place to live in dignity and safety, and that decent shelter in decent communities should be a matter of conscience and action for all.

Emergency Management Association of McLean County

Questions often arise about the difference between the McLean County Emergency Management Agency (EMA) and the Emergency Management Association of McLean County. The McLean County Emergency Management Agency is the official governmental agency that responds to / provides support for emergencies and disasters. All staff members, paid and volunteer, are sworn McLean County Emergency Management Agency officials under the governmental department within McLean County. Donations from volunteers and the community account for a substantial amount of the annual funding needed to provide vital emergency response services to the community, free of charge. The Emergency Management Association of McLean County, on the other hand, is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization that provides grants and funding opportunities to the McLean County Emergency Management Agency in support of its mission. The Association has no emergency response authority or mandate and owns no response assets. Its membership consists of Operations and Search and Rescue Division staffs who run the Association independently but with an eye toward the needs of the McLean County Emergency Management Agency.

YMCA

The Bloomington-Normal YMCA is a non-profit, cause-driven organization for youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Our mission is to put Christian principles into practice through programs that build healthy spirit, mind, and body for all. We depend on the generosity of our donors, members, and program participants to fulfill our mission. For more information about the global reaches of the Y visit www.ymca.net to learn more.

Bloomington-Normal Young Professional Kiwanis Club

We are Kiwanians. Kiwanis is a global organization of volunteers dedicated to changing the world one child and one community at a time. Kiwanians are volunteers who change the world through service to children and communities. Kiwanis members help shelter the homeless, feed the hungry, build playgrounds, raise funds for pediatric research and more. No problem is too big or too small. Working together, our members achieve what one person cannot accomplish alone. When you give a child the chance to learn, dream and succeed, great things happen!

St. Jude Children's Research Hospital

Since opening 50 years ago, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital has changed the way the world treats childhood cancer and other life-threatening diseases. No family ever pays St. Jude for the care their child receives and, for every child treated here, thousands more have been saved worldwide through St. Jude discoveries. The hospital has played a pivotal role in pushing U.S. pediatric cancer survival rates from 20 to 80 percent overall, and is the first and only National Cancer Institute-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center devoted to children. It is also a leader in the research and treatment of blood disorders and infectious diseases in children. St. Jude was founded by the late entertainer Danny Thomas, who believed that no child should die in the dawn of life. Join that mission by visiting stjude.org or following us on facebook.com/stjude and twitter.com/stjude. Questions about getting involved locally contact Amy Pitzer at amy.pitzer@stjude.org or 309-258-7422.

The Nepalese Association of Bloomington (NABI)

The Nepalese Association of Bloomington (NABI) is a small group of students and professionals of Nepalese descent. This disaster has shaken us tremendously and we are hoping to do what we can for our friends and families. We have started fundraising for the disaster stricken areas in Nepal and we are working directly on providing primary treatment to casualties, food/water and tents. In addition to supporting international disaster groups, we are working closely with local groups on the ground to support their effort in providing relief and basic necessities to smaller villages that goes unreported in the media.

Home Sweet Home Ministries

Since opening on Thanksgiving Day in 1917 Home Sweet Home Ministries has strived to provide hope for all who entered our doors and to collaborate with our community in to bring dignity into the lives of others. We work in the lives of the hungry, homeless and hurting to provide food, shelter and hope. This is done via a variety of refuge and renewal services 24 hours daily, 365 days a year. The Billy Shelper Center homeless shelter aims to be a place of warmth, comfort and safety to all. Daily meals, overnight shelter, clothing, personal hygiene supplies and other services are shared with individuals and families in need. Food Services provide meals to hundreds of hungry men, women and children. Our food co-op allows low-income individuals to experience dignity and develop capability in an atmosphere of real community. Community renewal is the focus of Retail Operations. Proceeds from sales at Mission Mart stores and recycling income via HSHRenew support programs that change lives.

Girl Scouts of Central Illinois

Our missions is to build girls of courage, confidence, and character who make the world a better place. Girl Scout supports girls and their families with empowering programs that are available to all girls regardless of race, religion, ability, or economic status. Alongside programs in healthy living, financial literacy, and outdoor education, our STEM(science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) programming matches innovative career paths with girls' curiosities.

Mulberry School

Mulberry School is an independent, private, non-profit school that provides children with the opportunity to learn in an environment that values curiosity and natural development. We work to "nurture the innate love of learning" by teaching children how, as opposed to what, to learn. Serving the Bloomington-Normal community since 1971, Mulberry School is a cooperative institution where parents have the opportunity to participate in nearly every aspect of the school. It is this support and input that allows us to provide a unique learning experience for our students.

For A Better Tomorrow (FBT)
